Emerald Scientific Successfully Upgrades to BigCommerce B2B Edition with Customized Features

With newly improved enhancements to its BigCommerce website, Emerald Scientific is now able to enhance its site navigation and provide a seamless B2B experience to onboard new customers and manage existing customers from its system’s backend.

Challenge

As an industry-leading distributor of technical equipment, Emerald Scientific wanted a fully functional B2B website to provide its customers with top-notch scientific supplies and laboratory appliances. When onboarding B2B customers that needed to create an account, Emerald Scientific ran into data issues in its system due to duplicate emails, addresses, and entries inputted into its account registration form. Additionally, with multiple inquiries and problem areas surrounding its site navigation, Emerald Scientific needed to update its BigCommerce website for a smooth and seamless selling experience that could meet the needs of its large customer base.

Solution

Silk’s B2B experts and creative leaders were able to provide Emerald Scientific with an upgraded BigCommerce site fully capable of handling its customer base and onboarding process. Migrating previous data, orders, products, and refunds, Silk was able to successfully launch Emerald Scientific’s site with BigCommerce B2B Edition and added in additional customizations and layouts. With a customized Trade Professional Application (TPA) form, Emerald Scientific can detect pre-created accounts through analyzing email addresses and duplicate company addresses. Additionally, with added subcategories for easier menu navigation, customers can view the site’s menu options in an easy to read drop-down format. The “Add to Quote” capabilities attached to special products allow customers to directly add certain products and request a quote for more information.

PREVIOUS SYSTEM

With customers that previously created entries, accounts, and registered emails, the system was unable to automatically detect duplicate customers, making it difficult to find information from Emerald Scientific’s backend.

CUSTOMIZATION FEATURES

With Silk’s customizations to the TPA form, customers that already created an account with a registered email would automatically be rerouted to their login portal. Additionally, Silk created a feature that notifies the end-user of similar company addresses from previously created accounts.

SECURITY FUNCTIONALITIES

With security functionalities added in the TPA form, customers are unable to pose as different companies to purchase items. They will be unable to change, update, or manipulate company addresses without authorization if they are unaffiliated with the specified company.
